Lok Kawi Wildlife Park

Lok Kawi Wildlife Park (or Lokkawi Zoo) is located at old Penampang-Papar road, a 30 minutes distance from Kota Kinabalu City. The zoo is managed by Sabah Wildlife Department. With an area of 280 acres, the wildlife park is one of the largest wildlife parks in Malaysia. It is home to a fascinating and varied collections of tropical animals which comprising mammals, birds and reptiles. These animals live in large enclosure where is designed to be like their natural habitat.

Water is used as barriers wherever possible, together with low fences and camouflaged walls with vegetation. This open concept of environment provides better vision and great opportunities for wildlife photography. The park encourages the public and students to use the park’s educational facilities. The visitors may enjoy an authentic learning experience through observation and also by listening to the tour guides or park staffs during the visit. Besides the wildlife, a botanical garden has been developed to highlight various plants’ species of the rainforest.

You are welcome to watch daily Animal Show. The show provides great interaction between human and well trained animals. This daily animal shows take place at 1115 hrs and 1530 hrs. The animal shows are held by the experts from the park itself. After the Animal Show, visitors will be given a chance to approach the stage, have a close look and take photographs with the animals.
